Holding up an ancient Greco-Roman pillar in Ephesus.
I’m a low tech person, more comfortable with the many ancient empires of Turkey, from Greek to Roman to Byzantine to the modern republic of Turkey founded by Ataturk in the 1920’s.  This particular day I was holding up a column in Ephesus (modern Turkish name: Efes) in the 114 F. temperatures.  One of the very few days in my six months in this 2006 stay in Turkey that I wore shorts.
