What a wonderful day!
Not only did I get to hang out all day with my kitty Ophelia, who had been missing for six days, but also–finally–at the end of the delivery day, the UPS guy brought me a big heavy box. In it was my new harp!
It is purple. It has 26 strings, including some wound strings on the bass that give it a more responsive and deeper sound. It has sharping levers on the B’s, F’s and C’s.
It sounds wonderful!
And best of all, it doesn’t hurt to play it! Woo hoo! 🙂
Oh how lovely! A purple harp! Apart from my hubby, we all like purple, even my 20 year old son, so I feel you. We should find a purple guitar. 🙂

Thanks, Anne. Yes, purple is a great color. In fact, the new harp matches my music stand! 🙂

Thank you, Mel & Suan. Today was our national Thanksgiving Day, so I spent most of the day at some friends’ house having a huge feast and a great time. But once I got home, I started fooling around with the new harp. There’s a lot of tuning involved for the first couple of weeks, until the strings, all 26 of them, stretch out fully. But I got to play, or at least try to play, a couple of songs as well. I haven’t played in several years and have a couple of fingers that don’t work now, so it’s a bit of a challenge. But many of the good things in life are challenges, are they? 🙂

True. But like riding a bicyle, we are sure it will all come back to you soon!

It’s beautiful and there’s not much risk of you losing or forgetting it, unless the world is full of purple harps.

Hahaha! You have such a delightful sense of humor, April. I’ve seen it at work in your novels, which I’m enjoying greatly! 🙂

I love the colour purple. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a purple harp, but why not? 🙂

I wished I could hear it. You must take a video to upload. : )

Thanks, Robyn. 🙂 It will be awhile before I can play well enough again to want to reveal my harp’s sound to folks. I stopped playing a few years back due to arthritis. This new harp is very lightly strung, which makes it easier to play and less painful. 🙂 Still, it will take time and practice before I get my “chops” back! 😉
