Late yesterday I got the results of the CT scan of my lungs that was taken earlier in the day. The scan was done because a chest X-ray taken the week before, in the course of the bronchitis I’ve been suffering, had shown a spot, or nodule, on my right lung. Such a nodule could be either benign or malignant.

The CT scan showed that there was NO nodule! In fact, what had appeared to be one on the X-ray was probably just an artifact. Β Artifacts in chest X-rays are discussed by Radiology Masterclass as

Artifactual appearances seen on a chest X-ray may be due to radiographic technique, patient factors, or the presence of external or internal non-anatomical objects. Artifact is often unavoidable, but some artifact can lead to misinterpretation of the image.

You can imagine my utmost joy and relief at their being no nodule on my lung at all! This “All-Clear” bell is the best possible Christmas gift I could wish for!

And I firmly believe that this wonderful result came about from all the good wishes, thoughts and prayers lifted up on my behalf from my friends far and wide, both ones I have met and ones I know ‘only’ online. I thank you, each and every one! πŸ™‚
