I still can’t capture with my smartphone the metallic look of the double stitch, but it definitely shows up to the naked eye and undoubtedly would on camera for better photographers than I!
Ah well, I guess you’ll just have to take my word for it!
So what do you think? Should I use this panel, above, with the doubled stitch on the yoke of my smokkr (Viking apron dress) for Coronation in May, or should I do a new panel with a single stitch? Here’s what the single stitch looked like:
I rather like the clean lines of the single stitch, but the double stitch with the metallic thread definitely has more bling!
We vote for the single stitch!

I like it best, too! Now to see if I actually do another red panel–I’ve already got a new project on the embroidery hoop, which I just realized that I can’t reveal because it’s a gift for a friend who just might be reading this blog! 😉

I’m thinking, also, that the single stitch might look more appropriate for Viking garb… 😛

I dig the double, but I tend to go the garish Viking route. Both look lovely and will be beautiful when the garment is finished. 🙂

Thanks! The double has the advantage of being finished already, so I may end up using it, since I have gone onto a different embroidery project since then.
