The opening sequence and song for the Netflix original series “Anne with an E” are the best ones I’ve seen on TV, ever!
See if you agree with me:
I’m not the only one who thinks so. This opening sequence has gotten critical raves. Indie Wire. From that article, here are some of the still images from the sequence:
My very favorite one is the first one, with the fox and the moon:
Here it is again, with a title, from “Art of the Title” (the rest of the images in this post come from Art of the Title ):
Closeups of the fox. The second one isn’t used in the opening sequence:

The music for the sequence, which I love just about as much as the graphics, is from the song “Ahead by a Century,” by the band Tragically Hip. The lyrics that are included in the opening titles to “Anne with an E” go like this:
“Ahead By A Century”
First thing we’d climb a tree and maybe then we’d talk
Or sit silently and listen to our thoughts
With illusions of someday casting a golden light
No dress rehearsal, this is our lifeYou are ahead by a century (this is our life)
You are ahead by a century
I must add here, that it is not just the opening sequence that brings me back again and again to “Anne with an E.” It is a most excellent series. Check it out!
Not only devouring books, but movies too!
