I just can’t seem to leave this Viking underdress alone! 😛

I’m adding two rows of running stitches to the one that I posted photos of before. I’m not quite done with the third row, but these photos will give you a good idea of what it will look like. Unfortunately I couldn’t figure out how to use the Alabama Chanin grids around a rounded neckline like this, so I just did freehand embroidery.

And you can tell! 😛

I got two new books today:

The Celts: A History from Earliest Times to the Present, 2nd Edition, by Bernhard Maier, which I ordered from Edinburgh University Press.

William Marshal: Knighthood, War and Chivalry, 1147-1219, by David Crouch. I’m particularly interested in this one because Crouch supposedly presents a much different person than the perfect knight ideal that we are so often asked to believe. I’ll report back in once I’ve had time to read and digest this book.

But right now I’m working on another article for our Barony’s quarterly publication, The Vigil, The Quarterly Newsletter of the Barony of the Middle Marches. My “Amazing Princess Ol’ga” article was published in it last fall. See My article on Princess Ol’ga is published!

The new article for The Vigil has a March 24th deadline. I’m writing about Unn the Deep-Minded, one of the 9th century founders of Iceland. Much of my material is from The Saga of the People of Laxardal, better known to saga enthusiasts as Laxdaela. It is my favorite of all the Icelandic family sagas.

Earlier today, I hit the crafts store to pick up some beads for the kids’ bracelets I’m making. Unfortunately there was a major sale on beads going on. 😛 I almost never buy beads retail, but these had managed to be competitive with wholesale prices, with no shipping charges, no waiting, and with the chance to see the product before you buy it.

So I bought. And bought. 😛
