Clear the decks and batten down the hatches!
I’ve started making my Coronation garb. ๐
Can you tell I’ve been watching Russell Crowe in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World? ๐ย This is a wonderful role for Crowe, although I also thought he was great in Gladiator (2000)ย and L.A. Confidential (1997).
I loved all the Patrick O’Brian novels about Captain Jack Aubrey and Doctor Stephen Maturin, sailing the high seas and making chamber music together in between naval engagements with French men o’war. This happened during the Napoleonic War in the early 1800’s, which also was the time period for my beloved Jane Austen novels, many of which feature British naval officers as love interests.
It made me very sad when O’Brian died at age 85 in 2000. No more Aubrey and Maturin books. He had written twenty of them, and Master and Commander was his first.ย Although I don’t buy many novels, I do have one of the Aubrey/Maturin series. I was looking for it on my bookshelves while taking a break from laying out the fabric for my Coronation Viking underdress:
Ironing and pinning five yards of 57″ wide linen was killing my hands, and I had to take a break. ๐ So I wandered around the house looking for that O’Brian novel and snapping photos of my bookshelves and other sundry sights. Can you find the O’Brian book?
Wow, neither can I! ๐ It would help if the photos were in focus, and if there weren’t so much clutter on the shelves obscuring the spines of the books!
While I was up in my bedroom looking at my bookshelves, I took some pics of the posters there. My very top favorites are these two:

I put an electric blanket and heating pads on my bed for Sissy’s recovery from oral surgery. Of course Ophelia likes the blanket, too!
Back downstairs is the new rocker/recliner that just got delivered today from LaZBoy. I’ve already pressed it into service as a side table for sewing supplies for the Coronation garb effort.ย The recliner and Sissy’s oral surgery have used up my tax refund already. But I’m so thankful to have gotten it! ๐

Time to hit the decks again! ๐
Back to making Coronation garb. Firecracker red linen underdress, here I come!
Mel love books and reading too… if only mainly histories, perhaps historical fiction might someday enter his world!

I used to strongly prefer fiction, but now in my (relative) old age, I strongly prefer nonfiction. True life stories are stranger than anyone could make up, imho! ๐
