This morning I attended the SCA event Keep Calm and Ceilidh On. It rocked! I did a shift guarding the Royalty Room with Lothar. I had never done that before. While I was standing guard, I took a bunch of photos.
Ginny Beatty and Lothar, outside the Royalty Room:
Sights around the heavy armored list:
The knight in the green turban is Ustad of Camp Ev Korku (House of Dread, which makes sense once you see his dreadlocks!):
I caught various interesting personages while standing guard:

More folk of interest:

I finally got off my guard shift and made it over to the rapier list, where I spied my friends Uilleag Balbhan and Slany Bean Uillic (mka Dan and Sheryl Barringer), as well as HRM King Cellach and Baroness Allegra of Flaming Gryphon.

I also played my purple harp a bit. I wish that I had gotten some photos of the people working so hard in the kitchen preparing the evening’s Feast, because they were a rapt and appreciative audience for my harp playing. As always at these events, once I leave I realize how very many people’s pictures I did NOT take. Oh well! 😛

I only spent the morning at the event, although I enjoyed it most heartily. As I was packing up my things in the merchant area, I got a chance to speak with my neighbor, who turned out to be “Chainmail Chica,” otherwise known as Sarah Fore. She was as lovely as her work, some of which I managed to photograph:

Oh wow. Did not look like guard duty at all! LOL…
That came from Mel

Yes, Mel, I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get to beat anybody up while standing guard. Hahahaha! 😉

Nah, just that the environment you were “guarding” was very different to the ones he did

Believe it or not, the lady from chainmail chica is new to making jewelry and this was her first SCA event! She had a blast.
