Planting a rosebush this morning proved to be solace for an aching heart and a broken body. (Both temporary conditions, I certainly do hope!)
“Work” shots:
Sheer prettiness:
Overview of that side of the front of my condo plantings:
The baby plants inside the stakes and ropes are Butterfly Plants, to attract Monarch butterflies and hummingbirds.
The other side of the front, and on the porch:
Tim Porges, my friend from way back in Grinnell College days, brought me two Madagascar palms several years ago when he drove up to Ohio from Virginia for a visit. I haven’t managed to kill them off, I’m happy to say!Butterfly plant. The cherry tomato plants that my son Nick and his gf Summer gave me for Mother’s Day are flourishing. I have about ten little tomatoes, still green so far…
I said yesterday that we are what we eat, and I do believe that, but I also believe that the creative process in all its many forms is healing…..included in that is getting our hands in the earth and planting flowers. Hummingbird Hugs my friend.
Gardening has always been a soul-nurturer for me. Roses are one of my favorites. I am working (thinking) about a patch of sunlight by the canal bank to plant a few things. Summer is not a good time to garden in Florida. Too hot and humid. Love ya Timi

Sissy looks to me like she’s doing a spot of bird-watching.
